Colombian Police Officer Hospitalized After Swallowing Bills to Conceal Corruption
BOGOTÁ - A Colombian police officer thought he could get away with corruption by swallowing the money he had received, but it turned out to be a grave mistake. As a result, he had to be taken to the hospital, where the truth eventually came to light.
According to Colombian radio station Blu Radio, the officer, along with a colleague, fabricated false allegations of sexual crimes against a businessman in order to extort 2 million pesos (440 euros) from him. The businessman managed to pay half of the money, but the officers were not satisfied. They took him to the police station and detained him for two hours.

In order to avoid further arrest, the businessman was forced to pay the remaining amount to the officers. However, what they didn't know was that the businessman had already informed the anti-corruption authorities. As soon as the officer accepted the money, they intervened, prompting him to stuff it all into his mouth and swallow.
Coughing and struggling to breathe
This turned out to be an unwise decision as the bills blocked his airways. Videos show the police officer coughing and claiming his innocence. "I didn't receive anything, absolutely nothing," he gasped for breath. "I don't know what you're talking about."
One of the anti-corruption agents offered medical assistance to the man. The officer was taken to the hospital, where the money worth 500,000 pesos (110 euros) was removed from his lungs. An investigation is currently underway into the officer and his colleague.
