Tourist in camper fined £2,000 for driving through London’s emission zone
A British holidaymaker who drove his large diesel camper through a London emission zone without realising it has been fined £2,000 for multiple violations. Geoffrey Eaton, who was travelling with his two children, said he had hoped for a “cheap day out” when he took his 2.8-litre vehicle through the zone on Good Friday to visit relatives. The city has strict rules in place for its emission zones and Mr Eaton was fined £300 for each violation. The camper owner said he was angry at the size of the fine, which he said was a month’s salary, but local authorities later reduced it to £1,400.
